Career Overview

Chris Paul’s career is a true success story, from working in a gas station as a teenager to being an internationally renowned basketball star. He is considered one of the best point guards in the NBA’s history and has won numerous awards and accolades nationally and internationally.

Outside of basketball, Paul has increased his net worth through various entrepreneurial ventures, working with Michael Jordan’s Jordan Brand and State Farm.

Early Career In High School & College

Chris Paul’s journey to the NBA began in high school when he played basketball for the West Forsyth High School team in North Carolina. After helping his team reach the state semifinals in his junior year, he earned the tournament MVP honors after winning the National U-17 AAU title.

Paul finished his high school career with another victory and accolades, including being a McDonald’s All-American. After graduating, he moved to Wake Forest University. He immediately shined through with a new school freshman record, being named ACC Rookie of the Year and Third Team All-ACC.

With several additional victories over the following games, Paul finished his college career with an induction into the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame.

Professional Career With The New Orleans Hornets

After a promising high school and college career, Chris Paul entered the NBA in 2005 after being selected by the New Orleans Hornets. While Hurricane Katrina led the team to play many games in Oklahoma City, Paul finished his rookie season leading in points, assists, and steals.

Combined with his record-setting averages, he was named NBA Rookie of the Year and continued to set records through the 2007 All-Star Weekend. Between 2007 and 2011, Paul’s impressive track record continued with victories against the Chicago Bulls and Dallas Mavericks.

His performances led the New Orleans Hornets to extend his contract in a deal worth $68 million that significantly enhanced his net worth. Thanks to his outstanding performance on the court, Paul established an impressive business portfolio that he would develop over the years.

2011 Move To The Los Angeles Clippers

After his impressive run with the New Orleans Hornets, Chris Paul was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2011, placing the team on the map. The home of iconic basketball stars, including Tyson Chandler, marked the next phase in Paul’s career and his first NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award.

Picking up another contract extension worth $107 million in 2013, Paul played in all 82 games of the 2014-15 season with a league-high of 10.2 assists per game. After missing over twenty games the following season due to injuries, Paul was traded to the Houston Rockets in 2017.

Over the ensuing seasons, he helped the team win the NBA Conference Finals, marking the first time he had achieved this accomplishment in his career. Additional multi-million contracts followed, although further injuries led to a drop in his performance, and commentators lamented his decline.

Late Career Highlights

Between 2019 and 2023, Chris Paul moved between various NBA teams, returning to form and assisting many team wins in high-profile games. This began with a move to the Oklahoma City Thunders, where he joined the ranks of Carmelo Anthony and confirmed his reputation as a leading point guard player.

Paul would then make his first Finals appearance in the 2020 to 2021 season with the Phoenix Suns before achieving franchise-record wins the following year.

In 2023, he reached a new career milestone, hitting 11,000 assists and passing Michael Jordan for third place on the all-time career steals list. By the summer of 2023, Chris Paul was traded once again, this time playing for the Golden State Warriors and debuting against the Phoenix Suns.

When Paul began his career in 2005, playing for the Oklahoma City Hornets, his starting salary was $3 million. From 2011 to 2017, Chris Paul earned $118 million while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Endorsements

In 2008, Paul released his first signature shoe, the Jordan CP3.I. The CP3.II would also be released in the same year, followed by the CP3.III in 2009. As things stand, he has released twelve versions of the CP3 shoe with Jordan.

In 2017, it was reported that Paul’s income from Nike had increased to an estimated $4 million per year.

Between 2012 and 2015, it was estimated that Paul earned between $5 million and $6 million annually through endorsements. From 2016 onwards, his estimated earnings increased to $8 million/year.

Real Estate

Houston Home

In April 2018, Chris Paul paid an undisclosed sum for a 10,098-square-foot, five-bedroom mansion in Houston, Texas. However, it was pending sale at $6.9 million, so he likely spent a figure close to this amount. In August 2019, he returned the property to the market with an asking price of $8.3 million but struggled to close a sale. The price was reduced various times and was eventually pending sale at $7.2 million. Again, the final closing price was undisclosed.

Encino Home

In March 2020, Paul paid $11.135 million for a 12,830-square-foot, eight-bedroom home in Encino, California. He listed this property for sale in June 2024, asking for $16.5 million. It sold for $15.15 million in July. According to public records, Paul’s annual property taxes cost between $135,000 and $145,000 per year, totaling $420,000 from 2021 to 2023. We estimate he potentially profited between $2.7 million and $2.9 million from the sale.

Williamson is still relatively fresh into his NBA career, having just completed his rookie contract. With five seasons under his belt, Zion has averaged 22.9 points per game and a salary of $15.5 million per year. Thus far, Williamson has earned $77.6 million in base salary and additional income from endorsements estimated to be between $50-$60 million.

  • Earned $77.6 million in salary thus far
  • Signed a five-year, $197.2 million extension with the Pelicans in 2023
  • Typically earns $12 million/year from endorsements
  • Signed a seven-year, $77 million endorsement deal with Jordan

Net Worth History

We first researched Zion Williamson’s net worth in 2020. He was estimated to be worth $8 million back then, but that was when he only earned $9 million yearly. Since then, he’s gained an additional $68 million in salary and roughly $50-$60 million from endorsements.

In 2025, Zion Williamson’s net worth is estimated to be $18 Million.

High School Basketball

Zion Williamson started making a name for himself in high school, winning the Under Armour Elite 24 showcase dunk contest.

During his junior season, Williamson went viral with his highlight videos, and Drake even wore his jersey in an Instagram post. After surpassing 2,000 points in January 2017, Williamson appeared on the cover of Slam and received All-USA First Team Honors.

Williamson finished his high school career as South Carolina’s Mr. Basketball and the runner-up to Mr. Basketball USA. In a live interview on ESPN, Williamson committed to attending Duke University, playing his first game for them in November 2018.

Duke University

Zion Williamson started his collegiate career strong and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week. Soon after, he broke the record for the most points recorded in a single game and was named ACC Freshman of the Week once more.

Unfortunately, in February 2019, Williamson was benched with a knee sprain after his shoe broke, causing him to slip. Following the incident, Nike’s stock dropped $1.1 billion, while Williamson earned Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors. He then appeared in the NCAA Tournament, joining Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis as the third freshman to earn 500 points, 50 steals, and 50 blocks in a season.

New Orleans Pelicans

After entering the 2019 NBA draft, the New Orleans Pelicans selected Zion Williamson with the first pick. Unfortunately, Williamson tore the cartilage in his knee during the preseason, delaying his debut until January 2020. However, once he was on the court again, Williamson wasted no time making a name for himself and racking up points. In his first eight games, he scored at least 20 points in four consecutive games, the longest 20+ point streak by a rookie Pelican.

Soon after, he surpassed Carmelo Anthony as the first teenager to score at least 20 points in 10 consecutive games in NBA history. He became the first rookie since Michael Jordan to earn 16 20-point games within their first 20 contests.

Following his rookie season, Zion Williamson tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for the longest 20-point streak in his first two seasons. His streak eventually surpassed Wilt Chamberlain and Karl Malone’s streaks, tying him with Shaquille O’Neal’s record of 25.

While things were going well for the basketball star, during the 2021 off-season, he suffered a fracture in his foot and underwent surgery. Williamson missed the entirety of the 2021-2022 season, but in July 2022, he signed a five-year extension with the Pelicans.

He returned in October 2022 and earned Western Conference Player of the Week honors before being sidelined with a hamstring injury in January. Ultimately, he ended up sitting out the rest of the season and returning in November 2023. Although he returned strong, on April 16, 2024, he suffered another injury during a game against the L.A. Lakers.

Endorsements

As the number one pick in the 2019 NBA draft, brands lined up to sign high-value endorsement deals with Zion Williamson. In the year the Pelicans selected him, a bidding war took place to obtain Zion on a shoe endorsement contract, with Nike winning out over the competition.

Williamson signed a 7-year deal with Nike Jordan worth $75 million, averaging $10.8 million/year. It was recorded as the most valuable NBA shoe deal since Nike signed LeBron in 2003. Zion released his first signature shoe, the Jordan Zion 1, in April 2021, and he has since released two more.

In the same year he signed with Nike, it was reported that Williamson signed a multi-year deal with Gatorade, which is estimated to earn him a 7-figure sum annually. Thanks to his big brand deals with Nike and Gatorade, Forbes estimated Zion Williamson’s endorsement income to be $20 million in 2020. Estimates of Zion’s annual endorsement income fell significantly to $12 million for 2023.

Williamson has also worked with brands such as:

  • Starry

In 2016, Durant signed a two-year contract with the Golden State Warriors worth $54.3 million. However, the deal ultimately turned out to be a one-year contract, and he earned $26.5 million. A similar scenario unfolded in 2017 when he re-signed with the Warriors on a two-year deal, which was later reduced to a one-year deal worth $25 million.

Again, in 2018, he signed a two-year deal with the Warriors, which became $30 million over one year. In 2019, Kevin Durant signed the first nine-figure contract of his career, a four-year, $164.3 million deal with the Golden State Warriors, which was facilitated under a sign-and-trade agreement.

In August 2024, Durant officially joined PSG’s ownership, further expanding his business ventures. While the financial specifics of his investment remain private, it reflects the growing trend of NBA players investing in European football clubs. Durant’s involvement aims to enhance PSG’s brand presence in the U.S. ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The partnership is expected to include collaborative content creation and strategic development between Boardroom Sports Holdings and PSG, with a focus on innovation and excellence, particularly in youth and women’s teams. This move mirrors similar investments by other athletes, such as LeBron James’ stake in Liverpool FC in 2011 and Tom Brady’s investment in Birmingham City in 2023. Durant’s participation as an investor is anticipated to significantly bolster Paris Saint-Germain’s marketing and sponsorship efforts in the United States.

In June 2025, Kevin Durant reportedly invested an additional eight-figure sum into PSG through his own company, Boardroom Sports Holdings, which means he now holds a direct ownership stake in the club.

Real Estate

Oklahoma Home

In April 2011, Durant paid $1.8 million for a 5,744-square-foot, five-bedroom home in Oklahoma City. In July 2013, he returned the property to the market, looking for $1.95 million, and increased the price to $2.2 million in November. According to reports, the home eventually sold in 2016 for just $1.1 million, resulting in a significant loss.

Miami Condo

In April 2011, Kevin purchased a 3,535-square-foot, three-bedroom apartment in Miami’s Biscayne Bay area for $1.825 million. When it came time to sell in 2015, Durant profited significantly, listing the unit for $3.45 million and selling it for $3.15 million.

Malibu Beach House

In April 2018, KD paid $12.05 million for a four-bedroom beachfront home in Malibu, California. The property was initially listed for $12.45 million before Durant snagged a $400,000 discount. A year later, he listed it for sale or rent at $13.5 million or $70,000 per month, respectively. The house sold for $12.15 million to CSI creator Anthony Zuiker in June. The property taxes for the year KD owned the beach house amounted to $156,000.
